On Super Bowl Sunday, the Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services (IRIS) hosted its annual Run for Refugees 5K in New Haven, Connecticut. We are big fans of IRIS and all that they do for refugees and immigrants here in Connecticut, so we knew we wanted to go down and be a part of the race day festivities. Despite not having run in longer than they care to admit, Lily and Amanda headed to New Haven to run a 5K for a great cause and awesome organization.
This year there were over 1,100 runners, walkers, and spectators participating and motivating each other to get up and back down the giant hill in East Rock Park!
Not to mention some interesting facts about refugee resettlement to put into context!
Overall, the weather, crowd, and afterparty full of delicious food and great music was unbeatable! We can’t wait to participate again next year.
